Women Empowerment through Media
Ensuring that Syrian women have the right to live in dignity and contribute to the future of their country is at the heart of ASML/Syria's commitment. Women are underrepresented and underestimated in Syria. They are the key to a prosperous future, yet they do not have the power to improve their living conditions. Many of them are widows and have to provide for their families in a war-ravaged country. They struggle daily to find food, hygiene products or basic health. They are in constant danger. This situation must change.
Our main priority is to provide for the basic needs of women. They must be in good health and be able to provide for their families. This is indisputable. We provide them with information that allows them to hold the day ...
Who to call when they need a specialist doctor. Where to find humanitarian aid and sanitary products. On which market to find food and drinks that they can reasonably afford to buy for their families. How to get their children to school safely. What to do when a family member shows symptoms of trauma.
Our second priority is to help women spread messages that concern them. Women play a key role in society and can chart the way to peace. However, in order to play this role, they must be empowered. Empowered to speak out against injustice. Autonomized to find solutions. Autonomized to succeed. We train women who aspire to become journalists and give them the equipment to deal with issues that are important to them. This not only helps them to find a job, but also to carry their voices and to spread their messages. Women must no longer see their rights infringed and violated.
